Refrain

--

What if your eyes were disco balls

With lips like fingers snapping to the beat

In synch with the sounds writhing in your mouth

Clanking teeth that clap and crash

Encircling a lounging tongue with throaty whispers

Writing a song that keeps you awake

Until your blood starts to sizzle

And your skin starts to blister

Muscles flaking away from your frame

Your body dissolving in tune

Leaving nothing behind but exhausted bones

That lie in a heap where you used to stand

And hum to the soundtrack that sifts through your skull

What melodious remains.
