It hurts to feel the world gasp. She prays for mercy from everyday murder, I hear her begging. My heart seizes with every tortured sigh.

She calls out to simply turn off her stars.

She pleads for a quicker and finite death because she can’t continue watching us. We bring her slow decay and deliberate destruction. Her unflinching children intent on making her suffering last.

There is nothing for her to do but keep time with her wounds and wait for the day we push her to perish.

We light her goodbyes on fire.
